The year 1984 saw an amazing Christmas movie, Gremlins. Released in the summers on June 8 1984 (USA), the movie was an instant hit. Directed by Joe Dante and written by Chris Columbus, there was no reason why this movie would not be a hit. Released in the year 1947 on 2nd May, the direction of George Seaton and main acting roles performed by Edmund Gwenn and Maureen O’Hara were enough to put in the top Christmas movie list of all times. The main focus of the film is the Santa Claus of a departmental store who claims him to be the real Santa.

Will Ferrell pulls off the comedy Elf in his own style which is pretty great. Hitting the cinemas in November 7th 2003, director Jon Favreau, being his second year in direction took on this Christmas comedy pretty well. An Elf working with Santa becomes aware of his real identity as human and travel to the NYC to meet up with his dad.

2. Die Hard (1988)

This movie is not your typical Christmas Movie, but a worthy watch. Who cannot love Bruce Willis actions? 22nd July 1988 this movie is still one the best action movies. You can enjoy the direction of John McTiernan in a cozy blanket in the holiday season. 94% audience approval on Rotten Tomatoes and nomination for 4 academy awards, this is a sure hit!

A whopping 8.7 rating on IMDb, this movie rotates around the story of an angel and how it helps out a distressed businessman by making him realize how life would go about if he was never there in the first place. Jan 7th 1947 was the date of release and it has been directed by Frank Capra, though pretty old but it’s a great watch for Christmas and Holiday season of 2013.
