Nolan Bushnell the founder of Atari Inc, revolutionized the video game industry. Nolan Bushnell started his career as associate engineer with Ampex (the company who invented video tape recorder). In 1969, he and his Ampex colleague Ted Dabney formed Syzygy by investing 500 US Dollars 250 each to produce a game called Computer Space which was Spacewar clone. The game was coin-operated, and they made more than 100K USD in revenue and hired their first engineer Allan Alcorn who developed Pong, one of the first video games. When Atari was acquired by Warner Communications, Nolan did not like the corporate culture and that is why he was fired.
